ACPS has invited the community to meet Ms. Rice-Harris on Tuesday, July 12, from 1-3 p.m. in the school library at 1501 Cameron St., Alexandria.

A second of two planned community meetings about the school's new governance scheme will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, also in the school library.

I know that this comment is off topic, but I thought that Growler readers would like to know that the Madison project has moved forward. Neighboring residents received notice via certified mail last week that demolition of the warehouse is to take place later this month.

Great news about the Madison - glad to see the project is finally moving forward. Thanks for letting the rest of us know.

Keeping my fingers crossed that Adkins is next.....

What will the Madison Project include? Does this just mean that more low income housing is coming down?

Details on the Madison project are on the City website at
http://alexandriava.gov/uploadedFiles/planning/info/Madison%20DSUP%202010-0028%20PC%20Presentation%202011-02-01.pdf

The plan includes 360 units of what appears to be rental apartments. Previously there was more retail space included, but that has unfortunately been scaled back.

This is being built on the site of a one story warehouse, so it is not taking the place of any of the public housing in the neighborhood.

Also unrelated but alexandrianews.org is doing a straw poll on the 30th Senate district and Krupicka is winning!
