In Memoriam

Some sad news for neighborhood residents: Patricia Schubert, past president of the Inner City Civic Association (now West Old Town Citizens Association) passed away at her home on Oronoco Street early yesterday morning after a long and courageous struggle with a rare lung disease.

Patricia served as an officer of ICCA from 2003 to 2006 and led the organization as president from 2006 to 2007. She was passionately committed to our neighborhood and worked hard to secure amenities from the City that enhanced quality of life for everyone who lived here.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22 at Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, at 1500 Braddock Road, and a Requiem Mass will be conducted at 10 AM on Thursday, September 23 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, located at 310 S. Royal Street.

"Nurse Patricia" was my husband's chemo nurse when he was fighting Stage 4 Non Hodgkins. He survived, due in no small part to Patricia's care and dedication. She was a wonderful person and will be much missed.

How terribly sad. My deepest condolences to her friends and family. She was a good person and obviously cared a lot about her community.
