Pro Bono or Cui Bono?

The Growler was doing a little research yesterday on pro bono representation, and stumbled across some information that seems to indicate attorneys in civil rights cases have the right to recover their fees if successful.

So does this explain why Williams & Connolly has morphed the appeal of the American Legion demolition from a preservation case into a civil rights matter?

Hmmmmmmmmmm ......

Are you suggesting this case morphed just so fat cat attorneys can eventually get paid for harrassing the city? Gross! Neither the complainants nor the petitioners participated in the Council hearing did they?

Nah. That complaint has very little chance of succeeding. It's designed to harass, not make money.

Exactly, the plaintiffs dont seem to want cash. They just want Cromley to turn the building into a museum to be visited by tourists with Boy Walker as the tour guide.

Commence laughter now...
