Weekend Roundup

IB for JH?

The Alexandria City Public School District is mulling over the implementation of International Baccalaureate Organization (IB) programs at one or more of its schools, and members of the Jefferson-Houston listserve are hoping that a new educational approach and curriculum will help turn around the failing school and draw families with young children back in.

But will Jefferson-Houston be chosen as an implementation site? Or will the plum go to one of the perennially-favored elementary schools. Let's keep our fingers crossed ...

The Long and Winding Road

Speaking of ACPS, it appears the search for a new superintendent is nearing an end and that an announcement will be made at a special School Board meeting on Monday, June 2.

Bland Work Session

The Planning Commission will hold a work session with the Parker-Gray Board of Architectural Review (BAR) on the upcoming Bland redevelopment and the Braddock East Plan. The meeting will be held at City Hall on Tuesday, June 3 at 6 P.M.

Have a great weekend!
