Last Man Standing (Again)

It's once more unto the breach, dear readers, on the Braddock Road Metro Small Area Plan.

Tonight and on Saturday the City will hold "informational workshops to hear nationally known experts and to discuss a number of issues important to the Braddock Metro neighborhood."

The first workshop will be held on Tuesday, October 16 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Jefferson Houston School, 1501 Cameron Street. (Note that the meeting starts an hour earlier than usual.)

Topics to be discussed include: allowable development rights under existing zoning; public housing; and transportation and parking. Speakers include David Dixon and Phil Goff from Goody Clancy; Rhae Parkes from ABT Associates; and Frank Speilberg and Christopher Gay from VBH Inc.

The second workshop will be held on Saturday, October 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Dr. Oswald Durant Memorial Center, 1605 Cameron Street. A bus/walking tour is planned from 11:30 a.m. to 1: 30 p.m. Topics to be discussed include: neighborhood preservation and history; retail and residential feasibility and development. Speakers include: Mary Means; Sarah Woodworth from WZHA Associates. Lunch will be provided.

Participants who attended the last Braddock Road Meeting are asked to remember to bring their disposable camera and/or photos to tonight's meeting.

Child care will be provided for both events.
