While we're on the subject of the Mayor, the Growler has learned from well-placed sources that Mr. Euille took a trip to Turkey last year with a former City Planning & Zoning Director. This gentleman is a paid consultant for Bud Hart projects like 621 N. Payne Street and the proposed Braddock Place condos at 1261 Madison.
Now why would our Mayor need to run off to Turkey when things need fixing at home? And who paid for this trip?
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!

Are the neighborhood drug dealers and pimps underwriting trips to the Travelodge for the Mayor and Melvin so that they continue to support this disgrace of a public housing system?
Funny you should mention the Travelodge. The motel's owner, Rafat Mahmood, contributed a total of $600 to the Mayor's campaign in 2006. He's a big Democratic party contributor and also owns the building leased by the Alexandria Democratic Committee.
But there's nothing wrong with that.
Would very much like to know who paid for the mayor's trip to Turkey.
Regardless, it's definitely time for ethics reform in Alexandria City government.
