As the Growler predicted a while back, the Madison development project and the prospect of a Harris-Teeter grocery story is not DOA after all but will be heading to Planning Commission for review in January 2007, with construction anticipated to begin next spring.
As reported earlier by the Growler, the Parker-Gray District's first full-service grocery store will be located on the ground floor of the Madison, not below grade as the preliminary designs indicated.

The Growler hears that City Manager Jim Hartmann will not be hiring replacements for Planning & Zoning Director Eileen Fogarty or Code Enforcement Director Art Dahlberg until after Christmas.
