The Examiner newspaper recently established the Washington Examiner Community Network (WECAN), described as "this newspaper’s initiative to partner with the region’s residents and civic groups in expanding the resources available for independent analyses of local and regional public services."
Before you suppress that yawn and move on, you might want to check out the following Excel spreadsheet on the WECAN site. The Examiner has been gathering salary information from a variety of local jurisdictions as well as WMATA (Metro). The Alexandria file was provided by Mayor Euille to the Examiner at the newspaper's request and lists all of the City's full- and part-time employees and their 2006 salaries. This includes cops as well as King Street paper pushers, but excludes the school district and ARHA.
