Stick 'Em Up

One of the neighborhood's favorite restaurants, Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries, was robbed at gunpoint on Monday night.

From the City's Daily Crime Report:

107 North Fayette Street 10/23 between 9:30 p.m. and 9:38 p.m. Two suspects entered the restaurant and one of them displayed a handgun. One suspect removed money from the cash register and then both fled from the business. There were no injuries. The suspects are described as light-complected black males, 25-30, 5’8”-5’10”, wearing dark hooded sweatshirts.
Meanwhile, a little further up King Street in broad daylight:

1600 block of King Street 10/21 between 1:45 p.m. and 1:57 p.m. The victims, a 22-year-old New Jersey woman and a 22-year-old woman from Staunton, Va., were in a parking garage unloading their packages from the car when a suspect suddenly approached them. He displayed a knife and demanded the victims’ money. They complied and the suspect then fled from the garage. Neither victim was injured. The suspect is described as a black male, 40-45, 5’10”-5’11”, 160-190 pounds, and wearing a blue coat, blue pants and a dark baseball cap.
At last week's neighborhood meeting on Queen Payne Market, the police noted that the market had been robbed twice, once in 2001 and again in 2004. And of course late this summer Sergeant's Restaurant was burglarized twice in the same month.

Hmm. Two women shopping in Old Town on a Sunday afternoon held up at knife point.
Tell me, someone, what are the BUSINESSES saying to our Fair City to ensure customer safety, and what is our Fair City doing to ensure shoppers continue to spend their money here??
What goes around, comes around, Mr. Mayor!

The murder this morning at Commonwealth and Mount Vernon Avenues suggests either Parker Gray's violent crime is spreading or police control is failing.

Ha, the Mayor just thinks that the King St. BID will magically make crime and riffraff disappear. If you put up some nice plants and collect more taxes, the criminals will just go back to their "contained" area in Parker Gray. And the panhandlers are residents too! This is the Mayor's rallying cry!

I also smell another Arlandria community walk coming, sponsored of course by Councilman Gaines and Mayor Euille. They will let Arlandria residents know that if we just put up a few more trash cans and say "this is disgusting!" a few more times, trash will magically vanish and all the drunks will magically disappear and stop harassing anyone who dares go near the 24 Hour Express.

This will do wonders for the Queen Street Retail Association's marketing campaign.

Sorry my friend, but this area is in Del Ray and has nothing to do with Parker Gray. Parker Gray had one shooting to Del Rays two homicides. There is no correlation between the two. How dare you say that Parker Gray "violence" is spreading/affecting Del Ray.

Police control failing? I'm sorry, I didn't know we live in a police state. Cops really have the ability to stop a premeditated shooting. They can see into the future like in the movie Minority Report and make arrests before crimes occur. Too bad they could care less about human life and just rather show up after the fact to take the report.

I guarantee that when the dirt bags that did this last homicide are arrested, their rap sheets will be a mile long. I'll check out that acjs thing at the courthouse that the growler mentioned after an arrest is made. We'll see if anyone askes a judge why this person(s) are walking the streets. My guess is no one will.

STOP BLAMING EVERYONE EXCEPT THE THUGS RESPONSIBLE!!!!

Sorry but what happens in Del Ray has everything to do with Parker Gray. The same thugs and hoodlums hang out together, get in fights together.

We have long known about gang rivalries and disputes between residents in Atkins and Bland and residents in Del Ray. I agree; blame the thugs. But good luck getting any actions from City Council; they can of accept this type of behavior as authentic Inner City.

This one act does not appear connected directly to Parker Gray, but it would suprise no one if the perps were hanging out in Bland recently or sligning crack at Atkins.

Add this to your list Growler - and note the location. Right near the Parker Gray Ho Lodge:

800 block of North Washington Street 10/29 between 5:30 a.m. and 6:40 a.m. The victim, a 42-year-old Alexandria man, was walking when the suspect approached him and began fighting with him. During the altercation, the victim suffered a stab wound. He refused medical treatment. Police arrested the suspect nearby. Dorian Springs, a 39-year-old male of Smithway Drive in Fairfax County, was charged with Malicious Wounding.
